This country classic by famed Main Line builder/architect Walter Durham, currently owned by a well known and highly respected hotel builder, was badly in need of a complete update with a new master suite, kitchen, and state of the art green energy and geothermal technology. These projects were all lovingly completed by our team of craftsmen at Cottage Industries in the spring of 2005.

Project on Sugartown Road, Berwyn, PA

The clients live in a restored 18th-century barn converted to a home in the early 1980s. The original barn conversion was beautiful but an architecturally inappropriate garage had been attached that marred the overall appearance. The home also lacked space, especially storage due to the existing vaulted barn interiors and the lack of a basement or attic. We built a three story “barn” addition, perpendicular to the existing barn creating a classic Pennsylvania farm style L. The new barn has a master suite on the third floor, 2 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a playroom and pantry on the second floor and a two car garage, workshop with full basement, family entrance with foyer and an expanded family room on the first floor.
