City Facts For Wynnewood, PA

The quaint city of Wynnewood sits inside Montgomery County’s Lower Merion Township. It was established entirely due to the influx of elite, summer vacationers, artisans, and residential servants by the Pennsylvania Railroad. By the turn of the century, Wynnewood was the most well-known suburb in greater America. This attracted business tycoons from around the world who wished for themselves a share of the peaceful surroundings and strict social society that was greatly appreciated within the region.

Today Wynnewood is mostly a residential community with tree-shaded streets and old stone homes. The city boasts a number of highly rated schools such as Friends’ Central Lower School, a private institution organized and funded by the Friends religious group. Also located in the city is Shortridge Memorial Park, a small park in a creek valley with stone bridges. This area has been recently ecologically restored.

Project on Argyle Road, Wynnewood, PA

The old kitchen in this Wynnewood home was in a tiny space shoe horned between the dinning room, a small breakfast room and some storage closets. The key to this design was combining space from each of the separate rooms and extending the front hall to enter directly into the expanded kitchen. The new open space and custom built-in eating area transformed the home into a fun place to entertain.

Project on Manor Road, Wynnewood, PA

At our first meeting, the homeowners were working with an architectural firm that was pressuring them to move ahead with a design that they felt did not meet their needs. It was a difficult and challenging problem to marry their family’s needs and budget to the quirky architecture of their side set, Dutch Colonial home. We were able to identify the more subtle issues and developed a design that includes a new family entrance with a Dutch door, mudroom, powder room, kitchen with soapstone counters, family room with fireplace and an open inviting family eating nook with large windows and a raised ceiling.

Project on Sussex Road, Wynnewood, PA

This exceptional brick 1920’s Tudor style home in Wynnewood still had its original rear kitchen and pantry area designed for the help and disconnected from the other areas of the first floor. With plenty of existing space, we removed walls and rearranged spaces to create a new kitchen, family room, breakfast room and rear mudroom entry all with period perfect soapstone floors and Tudor style appointments.
